Background of the Organization

Adonai Fellowship & Care Centre is a Faith based organization founded by the Late Pastor's Boycan & Eastlyn Hoffman. The Organization assists children who are orphaned and vulnerable to poverty in the Midvaal Area Ward 5, 7 & 11 Sedibeng Johannesburg.   

The feeding scheme started in May 2005 at church on a Sunday morning. A young girl arrived at church and mentioned to Pastor Eastlyn how hungry she was. It was the boldness of this little girl that made the Ministry realize the need for a feeding scheme. Adonai Care Centre was not funded, the organization sustained itself by monthly grocery donations from the Ministry, congregation and community. We collaborated with various Stakeholders in Midvaal, Hollard Foundation, Woolworths, Midvaal Municipality and Department of Social Development. Hollard and Woolworths identified the need for nutition in our Organization and helped by providing grocery hampers on a monthly basis. Through this initiative we could now feed the children 5 days a week whereas previously we could only manage 2 days per week. When DSD came onboard we managed to increase our staff and volunteer compliment as the number of needy children increased dramatically over the next few years. As the numbers grew Adonai Care Centre needed to expand it's feeding Centre's and split them into the 3 feeding Centre's namely Walkerville, Ohenimuri and Savanah City. We currently feed and assist around 500 children collectively at these 3 Centre's 5 days a week. 

" It's about inspiring potential in young vibrant people with dreams, passion and hope. " We are an after care Drop-in Centre and our aim is to help the children holistically by empowering and transforming them.  

Our Vision

Adonai is formed to assist the children and youth become the best individuals they can be, despite any disadvantages they may be facing or faced with. They can rise above all the societal pressures ( crime, drugs & teenage pregnancies ) and become better leaders of tomorrow. Together we can make a difference in our community.

Our Mission 

Adonai Care Centre's mission is to assists with the Nutrition, assistance in Education and Wellness of Orphaned & Vulnerable children in the Early Childhood Development, Pre-teen & Teenage Phase. We also prevent and curb the children and youth from the underprivileged areas in Walkerville and Savanah City from resorting to substance abuse, crime related activities and teenage pregnancy.

We reach out by providing the following essentials to our community and young children on a daily basis : 

• Nutrition - For most of the kids in our Organization this is this only nutritious meal they receive for the day. We endeavor to address most of the daily essentials growing kids require 
• Assistance with homework - Our Caregiving staff assist the different age groups and grades with homework and projects.  
• Social skills & development  - Our Caregivers and Social Work Staff & Volunteers assist the children with essential Social Skills like effective communication, the importance of good hygiene and spirituality. 
• Community Services - The facilitating of extended family placements for children ( Fostering ), provision of school uniforms and stationary, monthly food parcels to  the elderly community members, referrals to key services such as clinics and department of social development for social grants, home affairs services and school fee exemptions.
